Visit potential event venues and define the catering/menu/dessert table.
Make a list of places and visit them. It's important to consider ease of access, parking, space (if you're hiring entertainment, a candy bar, etc.), varied menu, etc. Many restaurants have pre-designed First Communion menus. Don't forget to reserve a dessert table or candy bar for dessert.
And then...?
Choose the wardrobe, hair and hairstyle.
There are many styles available; take the time to look at photos of different styles, and then you can choose to hire a seamstress or purchase one at a specialty store. It's important to book a salon appointment in advance and try out different hairstyles.
Photographer
Don't be swayed by price alone; spend some time looking at different photographers' work and choose the one you like best. Some photographers prefer posed shots, while others prefer more natural photography. Make sure you schedule a date and time for both the pre-ceremony session (optional) and the day of the ceremony.

Nowadays, you can design the card with an illustration of your child, the exact outfit they'll be wearing, and decorative elements related to their tastes and hobbies. A specially designed card isn't the same as a generic one. Grandmothers will appreciate it.

They never go out of style; they're the perfect souvenir to offer to family and friends. Especially in these times when you probably won't be able to have everyone at the celebration.
Guest details and guest book.
The first ones are a must-have; they're the best way to thank your guests for their presence, and the book is a keepsake that will last a lifetime, with photos, anecdotes, signatures, and dedications...
